Programs
There are a number of fundraising and development programs already in place at the school. These include our annual Harvest Faire, Scrip, The Salon, Annual Fund, Sherry McCarthy Scholarship Endowment Fund, and the Nancy Gehlke Memorial Fund.
Autumn Harvest Faire
This annual fair is coordinated by parent volunteers whose extraordinary efforts successfully create charming seasonal events for the community. The Harvest Faire contributes significant revenue to our operating budget, and is a tremendous boost to our enrollment process, making our school a visible and welcomed reality for many local families.
Scrip
Scrip includes paper, electronic, credit card, and other forms of purchasing goods and services in a way that funds the school. Under the leadership of parents, Scrip has become a major fundraiser. Scrip revenues support important programs and purchases, including faculty and curriculum development and the grade school playground equipment. There are many ways to use Scrip on a regular basis. Please contact the Development Coordinator for more information.
Sherry McCarthy Scholarship Endowment Fund
In 1998, Sherry McCarthy and the parents of that year's eighth grade graduating class initiated the Scholarship Endowment Fund. Their vision was to develop alternative ways of generating funds that would, in future years, ensure that families from diverse economic backgrounds could attend the school.
The initial gift was created with a combination of funds, including the donation of the enrollment deposits of the graduating students and excess funds remaining from their fundraising efforts. They hoped that future classes would make this a tradition. The fund is invested so as to generate interest income that will be used to fund scholarships. The fund is named in memory of Sherry McCarthy, a former teacher at the school and an energetic supporter of Waldorf education.
Nancy Gehlke Memorial Music Fund
This fund was established in 2003 in memory of Nancy Gehlke, a mother in our community who expressed her love of life through music. The fund supports music education at the school through the purchase of musical instruments, scores, and sheet music.
