Application Process

A warm welcome and thank you for considering the East Bay Waldorf School!

Picking a school is a daunting task for a parent. It is emotional and draining. It is charged with your own childhood experiences, and often simply overwhelming. It can also be joyous, affirming, exciting, and a wonderful relief! That being said, I would like to share with you a comment I received from one of our newest families.

Dear Juliana,

We've had a lovely first week! Our son is wide-eyed and engaged, high spirited and happy, silly and full of himself. In short: ten years old!

I'm tickled by everything he says about his day: the handwork class with the teacher who speaks so directly to my convictions about brain development; the movement class where they're building more graceful and deeply coordinated adolescents; the orchestra; the cursive; the beautiful, natural art materials; the soul-food verses; the way drawing is incorporated into math class; the poems used for grammar; the trees; the real bell rung for school and the fact that the students play outside in the morning until the bell rings; the way the teachers greet each student directly with a handshake in the morning as they cross the threshold of the classroom door; and the playground games that the children invent. It just goes on and on.

Thank you so much for welcoming us into this wonderful place.

If you haven’t already, please contact me to set up a time to see our school. There are quite a few things that set our school apart from the others. From our amazing, 11 acre campus to our vibrant and beautiful classrooms, you will find we offer something inspiring to the soul and stimulating to the mind. At the East Bay Waldorf School we are not just educating students but are awakening their potential.

It is my greatest pleasure to work with our families and I encourage you to contact me for more information.

Of course, not all admissions are as straightforward, and on some occasions acceptance is contingent on other factors. Sometimes special circumstances apply. This can happen if the teacher requests that the applying family complete previously agreed upon obligations before attendance. Typically such requests involve further study, tutoring or, on rare occasions, support from other professionals. This is typically discussed when you meet with your teacher or with the Admissions Director.

We welcome students and their families at any time during the school year. However, if you apply after the deadlines below you may be subject to a waitlist.
