About East Bay Waldorf School
The Waldorf curriculum offers a true and tested alternative education, especially suited to families who desire a strong intellectual and aesthetic foundation for their children, but who also wish to allow their children the opportunity to fully experience the joys of childhood without premature academic pressures. The East Bay Waldorf School can offer you and your children a community of teachers, parents, and students who strive to build creative lives that are filled with meaning.
EBWS prepares children for the future with its uniquely vibrant and well-rounded education that blends the unconventional and the traditional, reconnects children with the world, and educates on a human scale.
EBWS is an independent, non-sectarian Waldorf school serving families from Parent-Child through Grade 8, located on 11 awe-inspiring acres in El Sobrante and serving children and their families from Oakland, Berkeley, Orinda, Walnut Creek, Vallejo, Richmond and the surrounding areas.
Founded in Berkeley, CA in 1980, the East Bay Waldorf School moved in 1996 to our awe-inspiring 11+-acre campus in El Sobrante, adjacent to Wildcat Canyon, a 2427-acre regional park atop the Berkeley Hills. This year we are celebrating 36 years of educating children from infancy through 8th grade.
We currently enroll approximately 180 children from our Parent-Child classes through 8th Grade. Our diverse families come to our campus from Oakland, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Vallejo, Napa and San Francisco and every place in between, to experience a renaissance education, creative and warm community, and nature, lots of nature. Our students represent all races, religions and family situations, and all find a welcome home at EBWS.
